Please be sure to let DTE know if you are planning home or business renovations that involve removal of your new advanced meter, EVEN temporarily.
This could include service upgrades, replacing a meter enclosure, or entrance cables.  When the DTE advanced meter stops working, our system assumes you have an outage and DTE sends out a repair crew.
You can help us and our customers avoid these unneeded expenses by calling DTE at 1-800-477-4747 before you remove the meter Please provide the Customer Representative with the location, date, meter number, and possible duration of the meter removal prior to meter removal.

The second one is the company, Detroit Edison has revised our meter installation standards. In the electronic section of the green book, Section 5, under Over Head Services we now have added the new requirements to prevent a dual path for fault currents.  We now require that the conduit nipple between the main utility meter and any other meter be non metallic or that a neutral isolation bar kit be installed in additional meter such as PV, EV, Net Meter, Generation Meter, or Geothermal.

This deals with any associate or inspector member who would like to be considered for installations of electrical vehicle (GM Volt) level II charge controllers. The company that GM and

DTE Energy have selected to coordinate the list of approved installers is SPX of Warren, Michigan.

Any licensed electrical contractor who wishes to may register at their (SPX) on line site. The site is www.homecharging.SPX.com, only registered and approved contractors will be `-considered for any matching

DTE Energy financial assistance to Volt owners. This approval is a benefit to contractors in that SPX completes a lot of the leg work before the job starts and does a lot of the paper work from them.
